FAQs: IMCU + MCFCU

We are confident that you will enjoy excellent service and competitive products as a member of Indiana Members Credit Union. We understand that you may have some additional questions. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below and contact us if you have additional questions.

Notice Regarding Ballots: It has come to our attention that some of our mailers may not have included a pre-addressed and pre-paid envelope to return your ballot for the merger. We apologize for this inconvenience. While we still encourage you to drop your ballot by either of our locations, we are also mailing a pre-addressed and pre-paid envelope for your use should that be more convenient for you to submit your vote.

Your Experience as an IMCU Member
Why did the Members Choice FCU board of directors vote to merge with IMCU?

The merger benefits the members, employees and communities of both credit unions. MCFCU and IMCU share a focus of providing consumers with resources to make confident decisions and plans for their financial future. MCFCU is pleased to have found a partner in IMCU that will continue to provide you with this level of commitment and support. IMCU is poised for growth; and the geographic location of the branches aligns with IMCU’s growth plans. The teams at both MCFCU and IMCU are committed to ensuring this transition results in added value for you, our member.

Who is IMCU and where are they located?
IMCU has over 139,000 members, 400+ full-time employees and 30 full service branch locations across Indiana. The credit union’s purpose is to support the communities it serves with a focus on “helping people.” This means IMCU accepts that every member is an individual with a unique situation; not just a number or credit score. For more information visit IMCU.com.

What are the biggest benefits of merging with IMCU?

IMCU’s rates, services, and branches are three of the biggest benefits.  IMCU’s financial services mirror those offered by larger financial institutions, but most decisions are made locally, at the branch level.  In addition to the Members Choice FCU branches, IMCU offers 30 other branches to serve in central Indiana.

About the People
What will happen to the current staff?
IMCU intends to maintain the same friendly staff you have come to know and trust in the merged branches. Some responsibilities may be refined.
Who will be the CEO?

Ron Collier is the current CEO of IMCU and will hold that position after the merger.

About the Future
Where will the credit union headquarters be located?

The IMCU headquarters is located at 5103 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. We will maintain a strong local and community presence in every community we serve.

When will I see signage begin to change at the merged locations?

We will begin replacing signage in May and June.

About My Accounts
How will this affect my rates and service charges/fees?

Until June 1, 2021, the rates and fees will remain the same. Beginning June 1, 2021, the rates and fees convert to IMCU’s structure. The timing for rates varies according to the product or service:

  • Deposit accounts, other than share certificates, will automatically begin earning interest at IMCU’s rates on June 1, 2021.
  • Share certificates will transfer to regular savings at maturity.
  • Loan interest rates remain as currently defined in your loan agreements until the loan is refinanced or paid in full.

Further information will be communicated closer to the June 1, 2021 conversion date. Learn more about IMCU’s products and services at IMCU.com.

Will my deposits continue to be federally insured?

IMCU is insured by the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) through the NCUSIF (National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund). Your deposits will continue to be federally insured to the maximum amount available – currently to at least $250,000 per member and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.

Will my account number change?

Most members will maintain their same account numbers. On June 1, 2021, your routing number will be updated to the IMCU routing number. Therefore, any direct deposits made to your account will continue uninterrupted. IMCU will keep the transition as simple as possible. The few members with account numbers changing will be notified in advance with additional details.

Will I still be able to use my current checks?
Yes, you will be able to use your current checks. On or after June 1, 2021, you will be issued new checks by IMCU which will contain your account number and updated routing number. Your initial checks will be automatically ordered for you at no cost and mailed to the address listed on your account. If you currently have more than one box of checks in your supply, we’re happy to replace those as well. Simply bring in your supply of MCFCU checks, and we will reorder a similar quantity. IMCU will continue to honor MCFCU checks for several months following the June 1, 2021 conversion date. More details regarding checks will be provided in a future mailing.
Will I still be able to use my debit card?

Your MCFCU debit card will continue to work through 4:00AM on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. We anticipate you will be able to use your new IMCU debit card, including ATM transactions, by noon on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. You should receive your new IMCU debit card by May 21, 2021. Please follow the activation instructions included with the card. Based on the above timing, you will not have debit card access between 4:00AM and no later than noon on June 1, 2021.

Will I still be able to use my credit card?
Credit card accounts do not change at this time. Members may still use the MCFCU Visa Card and continue to make payments to the same address as in the past. IMCU can accept payments over the teller line (at the MCFCU Branches of IMCU), or online using Access Point or DXMobile. In the coming months, we will replace the MCFCU Visa Card with an IMCU MasterCard®. Credit card holders will receive a separate communication prior to this conversion.
Account Access
How will I be able to access my account?
You will continue to have access to your account at the MCFCU branches and ATM locations. You will also maintain access to your account via the MCFCU Online Banking portal until June 1, 2021. Starting June 1, 2021, you will utilize the IMCU Online Banking portal to access your account. Further, in addition to the MCFCU Branches, beginning June 1, 2021, you will have access to all of IMCU’s branch office locations and ATMs. As an added benefit, you will also be able to utilize the Alliance One and Allpoint surcharge-free networks. The Alliance One network provides over 5,000 surcharge free ATMs nationwide. Visit AllianceOne.Coop to find a location near you. The Allpoint network provides over 55,000 surcharge free ATMs nationwide. Visit AllPointNetwork.com to find a location near you.
How will Online Banking be affected?
You can transact on the MCFCU Online Banking Portal (Perfect Teller), which includes both online and mobile banking, through 10:00PM on Monday, May 31, 2021. Although you will be unable to make transactions after that, view-only access will still be available online for several months. The MCFCU mobile app will no longer work after 10:00PM on Monday, May 31, 2021. We anticipate you will be able to access the IMCU Online Banking Portal by at least noon on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Email communication will be sent once this access is available. Please update your email address with MCFCU to receive these communications. You can also call IMCU Member Services for assistance at 1.800.556.9268 or 317.248.8556.
What is IMCU’s website?
The website is IMCU.com. Visit the website to learn more about IMCU to view their products and services. You may also access Online Banking through the website on or after June 1, 2021.
Will there be changes to office hours?
